New Patient

How does this whole “therapy” thing even work?

  1. Free 20-minute consultation: I offer a free 20-minute consultation to anyone interested in pursuing therapy at District Psychology Center! The purpose of this consultation is to learn about the issues and events leading you to seek therapy for yourself or your child. I will ask you some brief questions just to make sure I am a good fit for your needs.

  2. Initial Intake: After the consultation, if you wish to move forward, we will schedule our first session together (the “intake”). Prior to the intake, I will send you some forms to sign that discuss my practice policies and some other important information. The purpose of this intake is for me to learn a little about your past and current life; clarify your goals for therapy; and to learn more about the issues you want to improve. The intake is more structured than the rest of therapy because, in order to provide a tailored treatment plan for you, I need to learn a little bit about you. Intakes are either 60-minutes or 90-minutes and 1-3 sessions depending your specific presenting issue/the number of people involved in treatment.

  3. Therapy appointments: After the intake, you and I will discuss the frequency of therapy that is best for you. Therapy appointment are either about 45-50 minutes or 60 minutes depending your specific presenting issue/the number of people involved in treatment.
